Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.
Water Resources Commission
The Water Resources Commission is responsible for working with the Commissioner of Conservation to prevent waste of ground water resources and to prevent or alleviate damaging or potentially damaging subsidence of the land surface caused by withdrawal of ground water.
Jim T. Harper, of Cheneyville, was appointed to the Water Resources Commission. Harper is a farmer and the owner of HE Harper Farms. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.
Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board
The Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board provides information and recommendations from the perspective of advocacy groups, service providers, and parents to the Children’s Cabinet.
Ayn W. Stehr, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Stehr is an attorney and the Executive Director of the Louisiana Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. She will serve as its representative on the board.
Sparta Ground Water Conservation District
The guiding purpose and primary objective of the Sparta Ground Water Conservation District Commission is to conserve, protect, restore, and maintain the Sparta Formation Aquifer as a continuing source of high quality, potable water for current and future consumers by promoting conservation measures and developing alternate sources of fresh water.
Devin R. Flowers, of Jonesboro, was appointed to the Sparta Ground Water Conservation District. Flowers is a councilman for the Town of Jonesboro and a veteran of the United States Air Force. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Town of Jonesboro.
Red River Waterway Commission
The Red River Waterway Commission was created for the purpose of establishing, operating, and maintaining the Red River Waterway, a navigable waterway system, extending from the vicinity of the confluence of Red River with Old River and the Atchafalaya River northwestward in the Red River Valley to the state boundary.
Ronald F. Lattier, of Shreveport, was appointed to the Red River Waterway Commission. Lattier is an attorney and the owner of the Law Offices of Ronald F. Lattier, LLC. He will serve as an at-large member of the commission.
Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians
The Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians is charged with the responsibility of examining all applicants for licenses to practice as sanitarians in the State of Louisiana and is empowered to issue licenses to applicants who qualify and successfully pass the Board's examination. The Board is also empowered to suspend or revoke for due cause any license which it has issued and to reinstate or renew any license which has been suspended or revoked.
Patrice S. Clark, of Covington, was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians. Clark is a sanitarian with the Office of Public Health within the Louisiana Department of Health.
Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners
The Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners is responsible for the regulation of Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors or PLPCs (formerly Counselor Interns), Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or PLMFTs (formerly MFT Interns), Licensed Professional Counselors or LPCs, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or LMFTs.
Claude A. Guillotte, of Hammond, was reappointed to the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. Guillotte is a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice. As required by statute, Mr. Guillotte was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and will serve as a licensed marriage and family therapist on the Board.
