Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards proclaimed February 2018 Black History Month in the state of Louisiana.
“Every year during the month of February, we pause to pay special appreciation for the role African Americans have played in our state’s economic, cultural, spiritual and political history,” said Gov. Edwards. “Without a doubt, Louisiana is a better place for everyone to call home because of those who have fought for justice, equality and freedom. We take this time each year to celebrate and learn more about the significant achievements and contributions they have made to our state and our nation.”
