Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards proclaimed May 7-11 as “Teacher Appreciation Week” in Louisiana. This week is dedicated to acknowledging the positive influence teachers have on our children and to thank them for their unyielding commitment to shaping our future leaders.

“Teachers willingly carry the remarkable responsibility of setting our children on the path that will determine the course of their entire lives,” Gov. Edwards said. “This makes them instrumental in the intellectual and moral fiber of our future generations. Because of the commitment and sacrifice of thousands of Louisiana educators, I am confident that the future of Louisiana will be bright, and Louisiana’s students will be equipped with the tools they need to succeed. During this Teacher Appreciation Week, I urge you to thank a local educator for all that they do.”
