Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners
The Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners is responsible for the regulation of Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors or PLPCs (formerly Counselor Interns), Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or PLMFTs (formerly MFT Interns), Licensed Professional Counselors or LPCs, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or LMFTs.

Laura J. Fazio-Griffith, Ph.D.,of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. Fazio-Griffith is a licensed professional counselor and Associate Professor of Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University. As required by statute, she was nominated by the Louisiana Counseling Association and will serve as a counselor educator on the board.

Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners
The Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners serves to license and regulate chiropractors in the state of Louisiana.

Michael R. Cavanaugh, D.C., of Lafayette, was reappointed to the Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Cavanaugh is a chiropractor and the owner of Cavanaugh Chiropractic. He is also a veteran of the United States Army. He will serve as a chiropractor on the board.

Calcasieu-Cameron Navigation District
The purpose of the Calcasieu-Cameron Navigation District is to improve and maintain the Calcasieu River with respect to the navigation thereof within the state of Louisiana.

Steven D. Trahan, of Hackberry, was appointed to the Calcasieu-Cameron Navigation District. Trahan is the External Relations Manager of Cameron LNG. He will serve as a representative of a facility located in Cameron Parish that utilizes the Calcasieu Ship Channel for commerce involving deep draft seagoing vessels.

Charles N. Harper, of Lake Charles, was appointed to the Calcasieu-Cameron Navigation District. Harper is an attorney and the Senior Corporate Counsel of Refining Operations at CITGO Petroleum Corporation. Additionally, he is a veteran of the United States Army. He will serve as a representative of a facility located in Calcasieu Parish that utilizes the Calcasieu Ship Channel for commerce involving deep draft seagoing vessels.

State Board of Commerce and Industry
The State Board of Commerce and Industry advises on applications for tax incentive programs, including Enterprise Zone, Industrial Tax Exemption, Quality Jobs, and Restoration Tax abatement.

Tanita M. Gilbert, of Shreveport, was appointed to the State Board of Commerce and Industry. Gilbert is a professional engineer and the Executive Vice President of EJES, Inc.

Louisiana Environmental Education Commission
The Louisiana Environmental Education Commission is a major resource in furthering environmental knowledge, awareness, and stewardship. The Commission’s mission is to create a comprehensive and balanced environmental education initiative that results in a literate citizenry who will make informed decisions to effectively solve existing problems, prevent new ones, and maintain a sustainable environment for future generations.

Pierre LaCaze, of Lecompte, was appointed to the Louisiana Environmental Education Commission. LaCaze is a science teacher at Poland Junior High. He will serve as the representative of the Louisiana Science Teachers Association on the Commission.

Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Advisory Council
The Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Advisory Council was created to address racial and ethnic disparities in maternal health outcomes and incorporate a community-engaged, equity-focused lens into current programs and campaigns which seek to prevent maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity. The council shall promote safe and equitable care for every mother and every birth in this state.

Joia Crear-Perry, M.D., of New Orleans, was appointed to the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Advisory Council. Crear-Perry is an obstetrician and gynecologist and the President of the National Birth Equity Collaborative. She will serve as a representative of a community-based organization that works to prevent maternal mortality.

Louisiana Educational Television Authority
The Louisiana Educational Television Authority serves to promote the use of educational television and technology in the state of Louisiana to further the education and cultural enrichments of its citizens.

Christopher J. Wegmann, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Louisiana Educational Television Authority. Wegmann is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Entercom New Orleans. As required by statute, he was nominated by and will serve as the representative of the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.

Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy
The Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy is responsible for the licensure, registration, investigation, and regulation of persons practicing as massage therapists within the state. The board may establish continuing education requirements for massage therapists.

Casey A. Little, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy. Little is a licensed massage therapist and the owner of Bumble Lane. As required by statute, he was nominated by an association and will serve as a licensed massage therapist.

Medicaid Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics Committee
The Medicaid Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining a preferred drug list (PDL) in conjunction with a prior approval process relating to the Medicaid drug program.

Edwin Walker, M.D., of Denham Springs, was appointed to the Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee. Walker is a family physician in private practice. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Public Recreation Access Task Force
The Public Recreation Access Task Force was established by Senate Concurrent Resolution 99 of the 2018 Regular Session to study the conditions, needs, and issues relative to potential public recreation access on the navigable waters of the state and to make recommendations to the legislature.

Jeff Schneider, of Ponchatoula, was appointed to the Public Recreation Access Task Force. Schneider is retired. He will serve as a water fowler on the task force.

Volunteer Louisiana Commission
The Volunteer Louisiana Commission is charged with encouraging community service as a means of community and state problem-solving, promoting and supporting citizen involvement in government and private programs, developing a long-term comprehensive vision and plan for action for community service initiatives in Louisiana, acting as the state's policy-making body for the Corporation on National and Community Service, and serving as the state's liaison to national and state organizations that support its mission. Appointments to the commission are made by the Governor in collaboration with the Lieutenant Governor.

Julie T. LaFleur, of Scott, was reappointed to the Volunteer Louisiana Commission. LaFleur is the Executive Director of FoodNet Food Bank. As required by statute, she was nominated by the Lieutenant Governor.
