Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions. 

Gov. Edwards announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:

Louisiana State Board of Dentistry
The mission of the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry is to protect the public by regulating the professions of dentistry and dental hygiene in Louisiana in accordance with the Dental Practice Act.

Kimberly L. Caldwell, D.D.S., of Monroe, was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. Caldwell is a dentist and the owner of Kimberly Caldwell, D.D.S., L.L.C.

Military Family Assistance Board
The Military Family Assistance Board is responsible for establishing rules for funding need-based claims submitted by families of activated military personnel and travel assistance for deployed military personnel.

Roland E. Doucet, of St. Amant, was appointed to the Louisiana Military Family Assistance Board. Doucet is a Disc Jockey with Guaranty Broadcasting and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Life Safety and Property Protection Education Board
The Louisiana Life Safety and Property Protection Education Board serves to create initial and continuing education requirements for individuals licensed to perform Life Safety and Property Protection contracting.

Kirk J. Caron, of River Ridge, was appointed to the Life Safety and Property Protection Education Board. Caron is a Local 16 Administrator with the National Elevator Industry Educational Program and will serve as a representative of the elevator industry.

Louisiana Lottery Corporation
The Louisiana Lottery Corporation approves the operating budget and the terms of major procurements of the corporation, serves as a board of appeal regarding retailer contracts, and adopts administrative rules in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act necessary for the operations of the corporation.

Blake A. McCaskill, of Sulphur, was reappointed to the Louisiana Lottery Corporation. McCaskill is the Senior Vice President of First National Bank of Louisiana. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Oil Marketers and Convenience Store Association.

Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council
The Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council is responsible for monitoring and reporting to the governor and the legislature on the implementation and administration of laws pertaining to the administration of workers' compensation claims and making specific recommendations thereon.

Vincent R. Forte, M.D., of Monroe, was appointed to the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council. Forte is a physician and partner of Louisiana Pain Care. He will serve as a representative of the Louisiana State Medical Society.

Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council
The Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council was established to identify issues pertinent to the operations of small businesses and advise the Louisiana Department of Economic Development and the governor on issues affecting the competitiveness of small businesses in Louisiana.

Cassie E. Felder, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Felder is an attorney and the owner of The Cassie Felder Law Firm. As required by statute, she was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.

Kelisha E. Garrett, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Garrett is a principal with Gen-X Consulting Group. She will serve as a representative of the Louisiana Alliance for Economic Inclusion.

Bryan L. Greenwood, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Greenwood is the Associate State Director of the Louisiana Delta Community College – Small Business Development Center. He will serve as a representative of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center.

Ben Marmande, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Marmande is the Executive Vice President of Iberia Bank. He will serve as a representative of the Louisiana Bankers Association.

Angelica F. Rivera, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Rivera is the President of Colmex Construction, L.L.C. As required by statute, she was nominated by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and will serve as a minority member on the board.

Bill Sawyer, of West Monroe, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Sawyer is the owner of Sawyer Industrial Plastics, Inc. and is a veteran of the United States Army. He will serve as an at-large member on the board.

Adrian L. Wallace, of Lake Charles, was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council. Wallace is the Executive Director of the SEED Center Business Incubator. He will serve as a representative of the Louisiana Business Incubation Association.

Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District
The mission of the Capital Area Ground Water Conservation District is to provide for the efficient administration, conservation, orderly development, and supplementation of groundwater resources in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana. The board develops, promotes, and implements management strategies to provide for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharging, and prevention of waste of the groundwater resources over which it has jurisdictional authority.

Todd A. Talbot, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District. Talbot is the Utilities Infrastructure Lead at ExxonMobil and will serve as a representative of industrial users on the board.
