Writing in NOLA.com | The Times Picayune on Sunday, conservative columnist Tim Morris questions if the Louisiana Legislature will allow voters to have their say on the state’s minimum wage, by passing Senate Bill 155 by Sen. Troy Carter, which Gov. Edwards supports.
Morris writes: “Someone will always argue that a minimum wage increase will kill jobs, but you would be hard pressed to find an economist who would argue that going from $7.25 in 2009 to $9 in 2020 would cripple many healthy businesses.”
In closing, Morris notes, “Legislators can earn their pay this time by letting the people vote.”
