Poverty Point Reservoir District
The Poverty Point Reservoir District is comprised of the area north of Delhi and south of the Warden community between the eastern edge of the Macon ridge and the west bank of Bayou Macon. The district is to develop the wealth and natural resources of the district by the conservation of soil and water for agricultural, recreational, commercial, industrial, and sanitary purposes.
Perry L. Smith of Delhi, was appointed to the Poverty Point Reservoir District. Mr. Perry is retired educator from Richland Parish. He will fill an at large seat.
Louisiana Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition
The Louisiana State Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition serves to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public by providing for the licensure and regulation of persons practicing the profession of dietetics and nutrition.
Susan F. Julius, M.D. of New Orleans, was appointed to the Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition. She is a clinician, speaker and teacher and is board certified in family and addiction medicine. As required by law she was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society and will serve as a licensed physician.
Louisiana State Plumbing Board
The State Plumbing Board is responsible for protecting all persons who use and rely upon plumbing and medical gas piping systems for personal or commercial needs, and for affording protection against incompetent, inexperienced, or unlawful acts by persons who perform work on plumbing and medical gas piping systems. The board qualifies and examines applicants for plumbers' licenses and serves, licenses, and enforces the law.
Jonathon K. Causey of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana State Plumbing Board. He is a nationally recognized drinking water and treatment engineer. As required by law he was nominated by the Louisiana Department of Health and will serve as a registered engineer.
Developmental Disabilities Council
The Louisiana Developmental Disability Council’s mission is to lead and promote advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Patti Barovechio, of Metairie, was reappointed to the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council. Ms. Barovechio is the Statewide Care Coordinator Supervisor for the Bureau of Family Health – Children’s Special Health Services. She will serve as a representative of the Louisiana Department of Health.
Parish Board of Election Supervisors
The purpose of the board in each parish is to oversee and supervise all elections within the parish to ensure the safety and accuracy of the democratic process. The Board of Election Supervisors oversees the preparation and conducting of each election in the parish. Each parish’s board is composed of the parish’s registrar of voters, the parish’s clerk of court, the chairman of the parish executive committee of each recognized political party, and one member appointed by the governor.
Dianne J. Cheavious of Napoleonville, was appointed to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors. Ms. Cheavious is retired from the Assumption Parish Head Start Program and will represent Assumption Parish.
Juanita Fowler of Natchitoches, was appointed to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors. Ms. Fowler is the Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of Natchitoches and will represent Natchitoches Parish.
Louisiana Shrimp Task Force
The Louisiana Shrimp Task Force was created to study and monitor the shrimp industry and to make recommendations to the Wildlife and Fisheries Commission and the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and other state agencies for the maximization of benefit from that industry for the state of Louisiana and its citizens.
Craig A. Authement of Lafourche, was appointed to the Louisiana Shrimp Task Force. Mr. Authement is co-owner of La Shrimp Dock, LLC and by statute will represent an active Louisiana dock buyer of shrimp.
Louisiana Board for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
The Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, created by the legislature, provides regulatory authority over persons offering speech-language pathology and audiology services to the public in order to safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare, to protect the public from incompetent, unscrupulous, and unauthorized persons, and from unprofessional conduct by speech-language pathologists and audiologists, and speech-language pathology assistants.
Lucie B. LeDoux of St. Francisville, was appointed to the Louisiana Board for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Ms. LeDoux is the owner of Children’s Therapy & Learning and by statute will serve as a practicing audiologist, speech-language pathologist.
Board of Professional Geoscientists
The Board of Professional Geoscientists was created to protect the public health, safety, and welfare and to guard the state's natural resources with regard to environmental and civil projects where a geoscientific review and evaluation is required in the making of recommendations of any geoscientific components.
Elizabeth C. McDade from Metairie, has been appointed to the Board of Professional Geoscientists. Ms. Dade is the principal scientist at Chinn-McDade Associates, LLC. She was nominated by the New Orleans National Geological Society.
Louisiana Emergency Medical Services Certification Commission
The Louisiana Emergency Medical Services Certification Commission has the responsibility to establish and publish standards of out-of-hospital practice; to regulate the scope of practice of Emergency Medical Services professionals, to discipline and regulate the practice of Emergency Medical Services professionals and to establish standards for educational programs preparing individuals for out of hospital practice.
Jeffrey M. Elder, M. D. of Metairie, has been appointed to the Louisiana Emergency Medical Services Certification Commission. He is an emergency physician with VanMeter and Associates. He will represent the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Bayou Lafourche Freshwater District
The Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District provides a source of fresh water from the Mississippi River into Bayou Lafourche primarily for drinking water purposes. The district maintains the Bayou Lafourche waterway to clear any obstructions that may restrict the flow of water.
Donald P. Schwab, Sr. of Houma, has been appointed to the Bayou Lafourche Freshwater District. He will represent Terrebonne Parish north of Intracoastal Waterway.
Veterans Affairs Commission
The Veterans Affairs Commission is responsible for adopting and promulgating rules and regulations governing the operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Additionally, the Commission advises the department's Secretary of problems concerning the welfare of veterans and makes and publishes annual and special reports to the Governor concerning the operations of the department.
Deron G. Santiny of Lafayette has been appointed to the Veterans Affairs Commission. Mr. Santiny is retired U. S. Army and will represent disabled American veterans.
