Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Appointment of Marty Poche to the Pontchartrain Levee Board

BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Marty Poche to the Pontchartrain Levee Board.

The Pontchartrain Levee Board is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system within East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Ascension, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and St. Charles Parishes.

According to statute, the board is comprised of the following nine gubernatorial appointments:

  • A citizen residing in East Baton Rouge Parish, nominated by one or more of their legislators;
  • A citizen residing in Iberville Parish, nominated by one or more of their legislators;
  • A citizen residing in Ascension Parish, nominated by one or more of their legislators;
  • A citizen residing in St. James Parish, nominated by one or more of their legislators;
  • A citizen residing in St. John the Baptist Parish, nominated by one or more of their legislators;
  • A citizen residing in St. Charles Parish, nominated by one or more of their legislators;
  • A representative from Louisville, New Orleans, and Texas Railway Company;
  • A representative from the Illinois Central Railroad Company; and
  • One at-large member residing in the district.

Marty Poche, of Paulina, is the office manager for Superior Office Products and previously worked for Colonial Sugars in Gramercy. Poche is a nominee of the St. James Parish legislative delegation, as required by statute.
