Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Appointments to the Iberia Parish Levee, Hurricane, and Conservation District

BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Iberia Parish Levee, Hurricane, and Conservation District.

The Iberia Parish Levee, Hurricane, and Conservation District is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system within all of the lands in the Parish of Iberia except that portion of Iberia Parish that is included in the territorial boundaries of the Atchafalaya Basin Levee District. 

According to statute, the board is comprised of the following nine gubernatorial appointments: 

  • Three members from the Iberia Parish Council;
  • One member from the Twin Parishes Port Commission;
  • One member from the Iberia Parish Port Commission;
  • One member from the City of Jeanerette;
  • One member from the City of New Iberia;
  • One member from the Town of Delcambre; and
  • One member from the Village of Loreauville.

Appointments to the Iberia Parish Levee, Hurricane, and Conservation District:

Alfred Landry, of Loreauville, is a partner with Loreauville Harvesting, LLC.  Landry will be appointed to serve as a member from the Village of Loreauville, as required by statute. 

Benson Langlinais, of New Iberia, is an area conservation engineer for the United States Department of Agriculture.  Langlinais will be appointed to serve as a member from the Twin Parishes Port Commission, as required by statute. 

Frank Minvielle, of Jeanerette, is a semi-retired farmer, the President of the Board of Cajun Sugar Corporative and is on the Board of Directors of the American Sugar Cane League.  Minvielle will be appointed to serve as a member from the Iberia Parishes Port Commission, as required by statute. 

James Landry, of New Iberia, is the City Building Official and Flood Plain Administrator for the City of New Iberia.  Landry will be appointed to serve as a member from the City of New Iberia, as required by statute.

James Stein, of New Iberia, is a partner with Stein’s Landscaping, Inc. and was a former councilman.  Stein will be appointed to serve as a member from the Iberia Parish Council, as required by statute.

Ronald Gonsoulin, of New Iberia, is the President of Ulysses Gonsoulin & Sons Inc.  Gonsoulin will be appointed to serve as a member from the Iberia Parish Council, as required by statute. 

Ronald Hebert, Jr., of Jeanerette, is a self-employed farmer and owner of Ronald R. Hebert, Inc.  Hebert will be appointed to serve as a member from the City of Jeanerette, as required by statute. 

Scott Saunier, of Delcambre, is an alderman for the Delcambre City Council and is employed with Industrial Solutions Group (ISG).  Saunier will be appointed to serve as a member from the Town of Delcambre, as required by statute.

William Patout, of Jeanerette, is a retired consultant for M.A. Patout & Son, Ltd.  Patout will be appointed to serve as a member from the Iberia Parish Council, as required by statute.
