Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Reappointments to the Geographic Information Systems Council

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced reappointments to the Geographic Information Systems Council. 

The Geographic Information Systems Council serves to guide the development of geographic information systems, spatially enabled data, and geographically related information technology for the state of Louisiana. 

According to statute, the council is comprised of the following seventeen members: 

  • A representative of the Louisiana Senate, appointed by the president of the Senate;
  • A representative of the Louisiana House of Representatives, appointed by the speaker of the House;
  • A representative of the division of administration, appointed by the commissioner of administration;
  • A representative of the military department, appointed by the adjutant general;
  • A representative of the Department of Justice, appointed by the attorney general;
  • A representative of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, appointed by the commissioner of agriculture;
  • A representative of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Economic Development, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Environmental Quality, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Health and Hospitals, office of public health, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Natural Resources, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Transportation and Development, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Labor, appointed by the secretary
  • A representative of the Department of Social Services, appointed by the secretary;
  • A representative of the Department of Education, appointed by the superintendent of education;
  • A representative of the Louisiana Assessors Association, selected from nominations submitted by such association to the governor;
  • A representative of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana, selected from nominations submitted by such association to the governor;
  • A representative of the Louisiana Municipal Association, selected from nominations submitted by such association to the governor; and
  • A representative of the Louisiana Association of Planning and Development Districts, selected from nominations submitted by such association to the governor.  

Reappointments to the Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council:

Lynn Dupont, of New Orleans, is a principal planner/GIS coordinator at the Regional Planning Commission.  Dupont will be reappointed to serve as a representative of the Louisiana Association of Planning and Development Districts, as required by statute. 

Ian Beer, of Covington, is the GIS Analyst for the City of Slidell.  Beer will be reappointed to serve as a representative of the Louisiana Municipal Association, as required by statute.
