Governor Jindal Announces Capital Outlay Funding for Central Louisiana Region

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the capital construction proposal for the next fiscal year (FY 2015), which includes millions in funding for projects in Central Louisiana. The proposal was submitted last week to the Legislature in the form of House Bill 2. 

Governor Jindal said, “These investments will build on our work to improve learning environments, make our roads safer for families, and make Louisiana more attractive to companies who want to expand or invest in our state.”

Higher Education investments in the Central Region include:
  • $2 million for a network and telephone cabling infrastructure for LSU-Alexandria in Rapides Parish;
  • $1.5 million for infrastructure improvements at LSU-Alexandria in Rapides Parish, with an additional $720,000 in new Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $2.22 million;
  • $500,000 for renovations of Roy Hall at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches Parish, with an additional $8.41 million in new Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $8.91 million;
  • $355,000 for a multi-purpose Assembly Center at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches Parish, with an additional $34 million in new Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $34.355 million;
  • $300,000 for the South Jefferson Street extension for Northwestern State University in Natchitoches Parish, with an additional $3.18 million in new Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $3.48 million;
  • $200,000 for parking lot repairs at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches Parish, with an additional $1.33 million in new Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $1.53 million.
Infrastructure investments in the Central Region include:
  • $2 million for the development of a slack water port on the Mississippi River in Concordia Parish;
  • $1 million for the Beulah Road reconstruction in Winn Parish;
Additional investments in the Central Region:
  • $6.6 million for the planning and construction of outpatient clinics in Rapides Parish;
  • $3 million for the Central Louisiana State Hospital relocation to Pinecrest in Rapides Parish;
