BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Board of Commissioners of the Amite River Basin Drainage and Water Conservation District.
The Board of Commissioners of the Amite River Basin Drainage and Water Conservation District serves to govern all flood control, public drainage and water resources development, reservoirs and diversion canals in the district.
According to statute, the board is comprised of 13 gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. One member is appointed from the district at-large and the remaining twelve members consist of two representatives from each parish within the district selected from nominations submitted by their respective legislators.
Appointments to the Amite River Basin Drainage and Water Conservation District:
Reda Cockerham, of Greenwell Springs, is a real estate consultant with C.J. Brown Realtors and is a member of the Central Chamber of Commerce. Cockerham was nominated by her legislators to serve as a representative of East Baton Rouge Parish, as required by statute.
Donald Thompson, of Baton Rouge, is the co-owner of American Press, a printing company, and is an East Baton Rouge Parish Constable. Thompson was reappointed to serve as an at-large member.
