BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Ronnie Anderson to the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors.
The Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors serves to supervise and manage the institutions, statewide agricultural programs, and other programs administered through the Louisiana State University system. LSU has always had a rich and close history with agriculture; the first graduating class at LSU included as one of its five graduates a planter. The College of Agriculture became a separate administrative unit at LSU just over one hundred years ago. The mission and commitment to agricultural production by LSU and the state of Louisiana remains a common thread that binds the colleges’ past and future.
According to the Louisiana Constitution, the board is comprised of 16 members, including one student member, two members from each congressional district, and one at-large-member. All gubernatorial appointments are subject to senate confirmation.
Ronnie Anderson, of Ethel, is the owner of Anderson Farms and the president of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation Board. Anderson also serves on the LSU Agricultural Leadership Program Board of Directors and the LSU Agricultural Development Council. He earned a degree in animal science from LSU and formerly served as the chair of the LSU Board of Supervisors. Anderson will serve as a representative of the 6th Congressional District, in accordance with the requirements of the Louisiana Constitution.
