Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Appointments to the Louisiana Land Trust Board of Directors

 

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Louisiana Land Trust Board of Directors.

The Louisiana Land Trust Board of Directors serves to govern the Louisiana Land Trust, which is a non-profit organization created to manage the properties purchased by the State of Louisiana under the Road Home Program to continue the recovery efforts following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

According to statute, the board is comprised of seven gubernatorial appointments, including at least five members who have education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation, or urban planning. Additionally, at least three members must reside in parishes impacted by Hurricane Katrina and at least three members must reside in parishes impacted by Hurricane Rita. The Speaker of the House and President of the Senate also must submit nominations for one member each.

Appointments to the Louisiana Land Trust Board of Directors: 

Kathy Laborde, of New Orleans, is the President of Gulf Coast Housing Partnership.  Laborde will be appointed to serve as a nominee of the Speaker of the House who has education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation or urban planning residing in a parish impacted by Hurricane Katrina, as required by statute.

Ellen Lee, of New Orleans, is the Senior Vice President of Programs for the Greater New Orleans Foundation and was the former Assistant Director of the Disaster Recovery Unit (DRU) within the State of Louisiana’s Office of Community Development. Lee will be reappointed to serve as a member who has education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation or urban planning residing in a parish impacted by Hurricane Katrina, as required by statute.

Dr. Daryl Burckel, of Lake Charles, is a professor of accounting and former chairman of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics at McNeese State University. Burckel will be reappointed to serve as a member who has education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation or urban planning residing in a parish impacted by Hurricane Rita, as required by statute.

Alvin Guillory, of Lake Charles, is a veteran of the United States Air Force and is the Owner of Guillory Realty, LLC.  Guillory will be reappointed to serve as a member who has education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation or urban planning residing in a parish impacted by Hurricane Rita, as required by statute.

Walt Leger, of New Orleans, is the Speaker Pro Tempore for the Louisiana House of Representatives.  Leger will be reappointed to serve as a member who has education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation or urban planning residing in a parish impacted by Hurricane Katrina, as required by statute.

Wesley “Wes” Wyman, of Belle Chasse, is the President of Wyman Construction, a residential and commercial construction company.  Wyman will be reappointed to serve as a member who has education, training or experience in banking, housing development, land use, mortgage financing, environmental remediation or urban planning residing in a parish impacted by Hurricane Katrina, as required by statute.
