Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Appointments to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors

BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors.

The Parish Board of Election Supervisors reviews election laws and procedures used in conducting elections in the state; reports its findings, observations, and recommendations annually to the legislature; and serves as a clearinghouse for proposed election-related legislation. 

According to the statute, the Parish Boards of Election Supervisors is compiled of a board from each parish in the state, which includes the specific parish’s registrar of voters, clerk of court, chair of each parish-recognized political party or their designees, and a gubernatorial appointee residing in that parish. All gubernatorial appointments are subject to senate confirmation.

Appointments to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors:

Vergie Ashton, of Mansfield, is a retired property manager. Ashton will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the DeSoto Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Janice Ackley, of Sulphur, is the Southwest Regional Director of the American Heart Association.  Ackley will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Calcasieu Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Lavelle Brown, of Oak Grove, is the Mayor of Oak Grove.  Brown will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the West Carroll Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.   

Jerry Chandler, of Benton, is the President of American Refrigeration and Ice. Chandler will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Bossier Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Margie Cruse, of Jena, is a certified public notary. Cruse will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the LaSalle Parish Board of Elections Supervisors, as required by statute.   

Richard Dugas, of Cecilia, is a Deputy Assessor for St. Martin Parish. Dugas will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the St. Martin Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.  

Paula Green, of Holden, is the former Principal of Holden High School. Green will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Livingston Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.  

Louis Gurvich, of New Orleans, is the President of Gurvich Detective Agency and the owner of New Orleans Private Patrol Services.  Gurvich will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Orleans Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Louria Jefferson, of Arcadia, is the Chairman of the Arcadia Town Council. Jefferson will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Bienville Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.   

Louie Laborde, of Cottonport, is an Avoyelles Parish Police Juror.  Laborde will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Avoyelles Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.   

Norman Francis McCall, of Cameron, is the Manager of Seacor Marine, LLC.  McCall will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Cameron Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

James Mitchell, of St. James, is the Administrative Director of Business Services & Operations for the St. James Parish School District.  Mitchell will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the St. James Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Charles Mizell, of Bogalusa, is the Mayor of Bogalusa.  Mizell will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Washington Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Patrick Napier, of Jeanerette, is the Manager of David Funeral Home.  Napier will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Iberia Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.  

Dianne Polk, of Lottie, is a cafeteria tech with the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board.  Polk will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Pointe Coupee Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Melvin Robinson, of Columbia, is the supervisor of special education for the Caldwell Parish School Board. Robinson will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Caldwell Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Cory Savoie, of Luling, is the Systems Operations Center Supervisor at Cox Communications.  Savoie will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the St. Charles Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Katherine Tubbs, of Bastrop, is a retired teacher.  Tubbs will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Morehouse Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute. 

Gary Wiltz, of Franklin, is the Executive Director of Teche Action Clinic. Wiltz will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the St. Mary Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.
