Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Appointments to the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District Board of Commissioners

BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District Board of Commissioners.

The Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District Board of Commissioners are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system within Terrebonne Parish.

According to statute, the board is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments, which are subject to Senate confirmation. The governor appoints one commissioner from nominations submitted by each member of the Terrebonne Parish legislative delegation. Additionally, the Terrebonne Parish President, with approval from the Terrebonne Parish Council, must submit nominations of Terrebonne Parish residents residing both north and south of the Intracoastal Canal, from which the governor then appoints one member from each respective region. If all nine seats have not been filled, veterans groups from the parish may submit nominations for the governor’s appointment of one commissioner and the legislative delegation may submit members at-large until all seats are filled. 

Appointments to the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District Board of Commissioners:

Tony Alford, of Houma, is the Owner of Alford, Staples, Lapeyre, and Robicheaux Insurance.  Alford will be reappointed to serve as a nominee of a member of the Terrebonne Parish legislative delegation, as required by statute. 

Carl Chauvin, Sr., of Chauvin, is a logistics manager for Vacco Marine, Inc. Chauvin will be reappointed to serve as a nominee of a member of the Terrebonne Parish legislative delegation, as required by statute.

Walton “Buddy” Daisy, of Theriot, is the Owner of Buddy’s Seafood and Buddy Daisy & Sons.  Daisy will be reappointed to serve as a nominee of a member of the Terrebonne Parish legislative delegation, as required by statute.

Darrin Guidry, of Houma, is the President of Guidry Group, Inc.  Guidry will be reappointed to serve as a member residing north of the Intracoastal Canal who was nominated by the Terrebonne Parish President, with approval from the Terrebonne Parish Council, as required by statute. 

Leward Henry, of Chauvin, is a veteran of the United States Army and former member of the Terrebonne Parish School Board. Henry was nominated for reappointment to serve as the veteran representative, as required by statute.  
 
Willis Henry, of Houma, is retired from UNOCAL Corporation.  Henry will be reappointed to serve as a nominee of veteran groups from the parish, as required by statute. 

Jack Moore, of Montegut, is the Risk Manager for the Terrebonne Parish School Board.  Moore will be reappointed as a member residing south of the Intracoastal Canal who was nominated by the Terrebonne Parish President, with approval from the Terrebonne Parish Council, as required by statute.

Howard Pinkston, of Gibson, is a lease operator for Island Operating Company.  Pinkston will be reappointed to serve as a nominee of a member of the Terrebonne Parish legislative delegation, as required by statute.

Lee Shaffer, of Schriever, is the President of Southern Investigative Services, LLC, and is a sales representative for Carbotec, Inc. Shaffer will be appointed to serve as a nominee of a member of the Terrebonne Parish legislative delegation, as required by statute.
