BATON ROUGE – Today Governor Bobby Jindal announced his support for construction and infrastructure projects in Central Louisiana that his administration is recommending for funding at the upcoming meeting of the State Bond Commission. In total, the recommendations include over $62 million in support for higher education throughout Louisiana. Since 2008, the Jindal administration has supported more than $700 million dollars in critical higher education infrastructure investments across the state, including more than $225 million for Louisiana Community and Technical College campuses.
Governor Jindal said, “Investing in these key projects throughout Central Louisiana will continue to upgrade and maintain our water and roadway infrastructure and will improve the quality of life for our citizens. These investments will make Louisiana more attractive to companies who want to expand or invest in our state so we can create more opportunities for our people right here at home."
Central Louisiana projects recommended to the State Bond Commission include:
- $5.7 million in Priority 2 funding for Vernon/ Fort Polk Thoroughfare Plan, Planning and Construction in Vernon Parish with an additional $3.675 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $9.375 million;
- $1 million in Priority 2 funding for Village of Sikes Water System Extensions and Improvements, Planning and Construction in Winn Parish with an additional $700,000 in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $1.7 million;
- $550,000 in Priority 2 funding for Rosepine Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement, Planning and Construction in Vernon Parish with an additional $1.07 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $1.62 million;
- $300,000 in Priority 2 funding for Emergency Connection with West Vernon Waterworks District and Inline Booster Station in Hornbeck, Planning and Construction in Vernon Parish with an additional $600,000 in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $900,000;
- $665,000 in Priority 2 funding for Pine Hill Road Improvements, Planning and Construction in LaSalle Parish;
- $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for Sugarhouse Road/Eddie Williams Blvd. to LA Hwy 1, Phase I and Phase II, Planning and Construction in Rapides Parish;
- $300,000 in Priority 2 funding for Emergency Connection with Anacoco Water System in Hornbeck, Planning and Construction in Vernon Parish;
- $200,000 in Priority 2 funding for Water System Improvements in Rosepine, Planning and Construction in Vernon Parish;
- $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for Renovation of Community Facilities in Forest Hill, Planning and Construction in Rapides Parish;
- $75,000 in Priority 2 funding for Street Improvements in New Llano, Planning and Construction in Vernon Parish.
