Governor Jindal Announces Millions Approved for Capital Region Capital Outlay Construction Projects

BATON ROUGE – Today Governor Bobby Jindal announced that millions of dollars for Capital Region projects were approved by the Bond Commission after his administration recommended them for funding.  In total, the approved projects include over $62 million in support for higher education throughout Louisiana. Since 2008, the Jindal administration has supported more than $700 million dollars in critical higher education infrastructure investments across the state, including more than $225 million for Louisiana Community and Technical College campuses. 

Capital Region projects approved by the State Bond Commission include:
  • $1.5 million in Priority 2 funding for Morganza to Gulf of Mexico Flood Control Feasibility Study, Planning, Design, Right of Way and Construction of Levees, Floodgates and Other Flood Control Systems in Ascension, Assumption, Iberia, Iberville, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terrebonne, West Baton Rouge Parish with an additional $25 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $26.5 million;
  • $2 million in Priority 2 funding for LA 42 (US 61 to LA 44) Widening in Ascension Parish with an additional $27 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $29 million;
  • $1 million in Priority 2 funding for Computer Science and Technology Facility Improvements and Expansion, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish with an additional $18 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $19 million;
  • $2.4 million in Priority 2 funding for Automotive Training Facility, Planning and Construction at Louisiana Community and Technical College System in East Baton Rouge Parish with an additional $11.5 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $13.9 million;
  • $1 million in Priority 2 funding for Louisiana Highway 1 Resurfacing, Plaquemine to White Castle, Planning and Construction in Iberville Parish with an additional $8 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $9 million;
  • $4 million in future Priority 5 Noncash Line of Credit for Cook Road Extension Economic Development Corridor (Pete's Highway Frontage Road) in Livingston Parish;
  • $1 million in Priority 2 funding for Inland River Marine Terminal Dock and Access Roadway Construction Project for the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission, Planning and Construction in West Baton Rouge Parish with an additional $2.2 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $3.2 million;
  • $3 million in future Priority 5 funding for Atchafalaya Basin Protection and Enhancement in Assumption, Avoyelles, Iberia, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary Parish;
  • $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for False River Ecosystem Restoration Project , Planning and Construction in Pointe Coupee Parish with an additional $2.2 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $2.7 million;
  • $2.14 million in Priority 2 funding for Livestock Education Facility, Planning and Construction at LSU Agricultural Center in East Baton Rouge Parish;
  • $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for Mississippi River Levee Raising, Arkansas to Old River, Planning and Construction in Avoyelles, Concordia, East Carroll, Madison, Pointe Coupee, Tensas Parish with an additional $1.5 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $2 million;
  • $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for Administration Building in Central in East Baton Rouge Parish with an additional $1.715 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $1.865 million;
  • $1.2 million in Priority 2 funding for Southern University laboratory School Addition and upgrades, Planning and Construction in East Baton Rouge Parish;
  • $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for Central Community Sports Park, Planning and Construction in East Baton Rouge Parish with an additional $900,000 in future Priority 5 Funding for a total investment of $1.05 million;
  • $800,000 in Priority 2 funding for Hooper Road Extension (LA 37 to LA 16) Environmental, Planning, Engineering, Right of Way, utilities and Construction in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish;
  • $800,000 in Priority 2 funding for Improvements on LA 3038 in Gonzales, Including Patching, Repairing and Overlaying of the Highway, Planning in Ascension Parish;
  • $300,000 in Priority 2 funding for Pointe Coupee Parish Port Capital Improvements, Planning and Construction in Pointe Coupee Parish with an additional $500,000 in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $800,000;
  • $400,000 in Priority 2 funding for Springfield Water System Planning and Construction in Livingston Parish with an additional $400,000 in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $800,000;
  • $750,000 in Priority 2 funding for Air Traffic Control Tower in Hammond, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish;
  • $600,000 in Priority 2 funding for Police Station, Acquisition and Renovation, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish;
  • $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for Repairs and Renovations at North Lake Supports and Services Center, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish;
  • $470,000 in Priority 2 funding for port Manchac Terminal Improvements, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish;
  • $400,000 in Priority 2 funding for LA 64 Widening from LA 16 to Magnolia Bridge Planning and Construction in Livingston Parish;
  • $345,000 in future Priority 5 funding for Anna T. Jordan Site and Facility Improvements in East Baton Rouge Parish;
  • $305,000 in Priority 2 funding for Natural Gas Distribution System in St. Francisville, Rehabilitation and Improvement, Planning and Construction in West Feliciana Parish;
  • $300,000 in Priority 2 funding for Widening of Highway 447 and I-12 Overpass Improvements in Walker, Environmental Phase Commencement, Planning and Construction in Livingston Parish;
  • $230,000 in Priority 2 funding for New Facility for Livingston Association for Retarded Children, Planning and Construction in Livingston Parish;
  • $200,000 in Priority 2 funding for Intersection Improvement Program, Real Estate Acquisition, Planning and Construction in Ascension Parish;
  • $190,000 in Priority 2 funding for Administration Building in Montpelier, Acquisition, Planning and Construction in St. Helena Parish;
  • $180,000 in Priority 2 funding for Fire Alarm/ Call System, Planning and Construction at the Department of Veterans Affairs in East Feliciana Parish;
  • $155,000 in Priority 2 funding for Independence Area Community Pavilion, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish;
  • $120,000 in Priority 2 funding for Oak Grove Community and Recreation Center, Planning and Construction in Ascension Parish;
  • $115,000 Drainage Improvements on Highway 442 East and West in Tickfaw, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish;
  • $100,000 in Priority 2 funding for Lamar Dixon Development and Land Acquisition in Ascension Parish;
  • $100,000 in Priority 2 funding for Hooper Road Sewer Improvements in East Baton Rouge Parish;
  • $100,000 in Priority 2 funding for Expand, Repair, and Modify City of Central Drainage System, Planning and Construction in East Baton Rouge Parish;
  • $20,000 in Priority 2 funding for Sewerage Treatment and Water Lines Repairs in Independence, Planning and Construction in Tangipahoa Parish.
