Nov 09, 2012 BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel. The Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel is responsible for determining which risks and hazards related to medical care and surgical procedures must be disclosed by a physician or other health care provider to a patient or person authorized to consent for a patient and to establish the general form and substance of such disclosure. The board is comprised of the following members:
Appointments to the Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel: Debra Berger, of New Orleans, is a family practice nurse practitioner and is also an attorney. Berger will be appointed to serve as a member licensed as a nurse practitioner in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, as required by statute. Kurt Blakenship, of Metairie, is a managing partner of the firm Blue Williams, LLP. Blakenship will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice law in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, as required by statute. Nelson Daly, of Baton Rouge, is the Owner of the Louisiana Center for Restorative Dentistry. Daly will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice dentistry who was nominated by the Louisiana Dental Association, as required by statute. Geoffrey Garrett, of Shreveport, is a practicing ophthalmologist at the Highland Clinic. Garrett will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice medicine in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute. Patrick Hall, of Baton Rouge, is a podiatrist at the Bone and Joint Clinic of Baton Rouge. Hall will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice podiatry in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana Podiatric Medical Association, as required by statute. Barry Levet, of Franklin, is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Acadiana Center for Orthopedic and Occupational Medicine, LLC. Levet will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice medicine in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute. Jack Miller Jr., of Eunice, is the Owner of Drs. Miller & Miller. Miller will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice optometry in this state who was nominated by the Optometry Association of Louisiana, as required by statute. Jeffrey Mitchell, of Metairie, is the Chairman of the Medical Malpractice Section for the Cochran Firm. Mitchell will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice law in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana Association for Justice, as required by statute. Frances “James” Morvant, of Lafayette, is the Owner of Morvant Chiropractic Clinic. Morvant will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice chiropractic in this state who was nominated by the Chiropractic Association of Louisiana, as required by statute. Benjamin Mouton, of Baton Rouge, is a partner with McGlynn, Glisson & Mouton. Mouton will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice law in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana Association for Justice, as required by statute. Thomas Pressly III, of Shreveport, is a practicing rheumatologist at Willis-Knighton Medical Center. Pressly will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice medicine in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute. Leo Regan, of Baton Rouge, is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Baton Rouge Oral & Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center. Regan will be appointed to serve as a member who specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgery who was nominated by the Louisiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, as required by statute. Kara Samuels, of New Orleans, is an attorney with Sangisetty and Samuels, LLC. Samuels will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice law in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana Association for Justice, as required by statute. Katherine Williams, of Covington, is the Vice President of Environmental Toxicology Experts and is an OB/GYN at Fairway Medical Center, St. Tammany Parish Hospital, and Lakeview Regional Medical Center. Williams will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice medicine in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute. Royce Dean Yount, of New Orleans, is a cardiologist at Crescent City Cardiology. Yount will be appointed to serve as a member licensed to practice medicine in this state who was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute. ### |
