Dec 14, 2012 BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board provides funding for research projects that help analyze trends in the industry and assist in marketing for the grain industry. The board is comprised of twelve members appointed by the governor and subject to Senate confirmation. Eight members are practical producers of soybeans and are nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, Inc. and the Louisiana Soybean Association. Four members are practical producers of wheat, corn or grain sorghum and are nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, Inc. and the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association. Appointments to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board: Charles Cannatella, of Melville, is the Vice President of the Louisiana Soybean Association. Cannatella will be reappointed to serve as a practical producer of soybeans who was nominated by the Louisiana Soybean Association, as required by statute. Ray Schexnayder, Jr., of Ventress, is a soybean farmer. Schexnayder will be reappointed to serve as a practical producer of soybeans who was nominated by the Louisiana Soybean Association, as required by statute. Darrell Vandeven, of St. Joseph, is a cotton, corn, and soybean farmer. Vandeven will be reappointed to serve as a practical producer of soybeans who was nominated by the Louisiana Soybean Association, as required by statute. Ryan Kirby, of Belcher, is the President of Kirby Farms and grows cotton, corn, soybeans, and wheat. Kirby was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association and will be appointed to serve as a representative of producers of wheat, corn, or grain sorghum, as required by statue. ### |
