BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of Frank Neuner, Jr. to the Louisiana Public Defender Board.
The Louisiana Public Defender Board provides for the supervision, administration, and delivery of a statewide public defender system.
According to statute, the board is comprised of the following 15 members:
- Two at-large members appointed by the governor;
- Two members appointed by the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Louisiana, of whom one must be a juvenile justice advocate and the other must be a retired judge with criminal law experience;
- One member appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives;
- One member appointed by the president of the Senate;
- One member representing the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center appointed by the governor;
- One member representing the Loyola University School of Law appointed by the governor;
- One member representing the Southern University Law Center appointed by the governor;
- One member representing the Tulane University School of Law appointed by the governor;
- Two members appointed by the president of the Louisiana State Bar Association;
- One member appointed by the president of the Louisiana Chapter of the Louis A. Martinet Society;
- One member appointed by the chairman of the Louisiana State Law Institute's Children Code Committee; and
- One member appointed by the executive director of the Louisiana Interchurch Conference.
Frank Neuner, Jr., of Lafayette, is an attorney with LaBorde & Neuner, and will be reappointed to serve as an at-large member of the board, as required by statute.
