BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Michael Spinato to the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority.
The Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority serves to provide services and continuity of care for the prevention, detection, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up care for the mentally and emotionally ill and alcohol and drug abusers. Additionally the authority is responsible for programs regarding the care, diagnosis, training, treatment, case management, and education of the developmentally disabled and the autistic.
According to the statute, the authority is comprised of a twelve member board, including nine appointees of the Jefferson Parish Council. The remaining three members are gubernatorial appointments, one each with experience in the fields of mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse.
Michael Spinato, of River Ridge, is a commercial account manager for Crescent Trucks, Inc. Spinato will be appointed to serve as a member with experience in the field of developmental disabilities, as required by statute.
