Jan 28, 2013 BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Burke Jay Brooks, Jr. to the Louisiana Cancer and Lung Trust Fund Board. The Louisiana Cancer and Lung Trust Fund Board serves to reduce the risk, incidence, morbidity, mortality and economic impact of cancer on citizens of the state by planning, and monitoring statewide efforts in education, early detection, screening, prevention, research and surveillance. According to statute, the board is comprised of twelve gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Members include one representative from each of the following entities:
Burke Jay Brooks, Jr., MD, of Baton Rouge, is the Chairman of the Hematology and Oncology Department of the Ochsner Clinic of Baton Rouge. He is also the Chief of Staff of Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Dr. Books will be appointed to serve as a representative of the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, as required by statute. ### |
