Feb 08, 2013 BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Children's Cabinet Advisory Board. The Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board shall provide information and recommendations from the perspective of advocacy groups, service providers, and parents to the Children’s Cabinet. The purpose of the Cabinet is to facilitate and require coordination of policy, planning, and budgeting affecting programs and services for children and their families. The cabinet carries out its functions in order to assure the most efficient and effective use of resources, particularly through programs for intervention and prevention and through services that assist and support children. According to statute, the advisory board shall be composed of the following members:
Appointments to the Children's Cabinet Advisory Board: Teri Hrabovsky, of Jefferson, is the President of the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association and a certified foster parent. Hrabovsky will be appointed to serve as a parent nominated by the agencies represented and approved by the cabinet, as required by statute. Myra Magee, of Angie, is the owner and director of Pride and Hope Ministry Family Support Services. Magee will be reappointed to serve as a parent nominated by the agencies represented and approved by the cabinet, as required by statute. Dr. David Walden, of Bossier, is a former substance abuse prevention educator and presently the Training Director of the Bossier Parish Sheriff Department Training Center. Dr. Walden will be appointed to serve as a representative of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Board, as required by statute. Makesha Judson, of Baton Rouge, is the State Director of the Program Services of the March of Dimes of Louisiana. Judson will be appointed to serve as a representative of the Louisiana Chapter of the March of Dimes, as required by statute. Dr. Jay Osofsky, Ph.D., of New Orleans, is a professor of pediatrics, psychiatry, and public health at the LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. Dr. Osofsky will be appointed to serve as a designee of the CEO of the LSU Health Science Center, as required by statute. Martin Gutierrez, of Metairie, is the Vice President of Community Services Ministry of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Gutierrez will be appointed to serve as a member of the Louisiana Catholic Conference, as required by statute. Sharon Tucker, of Baton Rouge, is the Deputy Secretary of Operations at the Department of Children and Family Services. Tucker will be appointed to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the Office of Children and Family Services, as required by statute. Jodie Holloway, M.D., of Mandeville, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Shreveport, as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans. Holloway will be appointed to serve as a representative of the Louisiana Council for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, as required by statute. ### |
