Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Appointment of Brent Duet to the South Lafourche Levee District

BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Brent Duet to the South Lafourche Levee District. 

The South Lafourche Levee District is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system within South Jefferson Parish on the west side of the Mississippi River. 

According to statute, the board is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments which are subject to Senate confirmation. Of the nine appointments three members are appointed from nominations submitted by the member of the Senate representing Senate District 20, three members are appointed from nominations submitted by the member of the House of Representatives representing House District 54, one member is appointed from nominations submitted by the President of Lafourche Parish, one member is appointed from nominations submitted by the Mayor of the Town of Golden Meadow, and one member is appointed from nominations submitted by the Board of Commissioners of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission. 

Brent Duet, of Cut Off, is the owner of Superior Shipyard and the President of the South Lafourche Chamber Board. Duet will be appointed to serve as a member nominated by the President of Lafourche Parish, as required by statute.
