Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Appointments to the Advisory Committee on Polysomnography

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Advisory Committee on Polysomnography.

The Advisory Committee on Polysomnography serves to assist the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners in all matters relating to polysomnography.

According to statute, the committee is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Four registered and licensed polysomnographic technologists and one member active in the field of sleep medicine are selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana Academy of Sleep Medicine. Three licensed physicians, of whom two must be diplomates of the American Board of Sleep Medicine and one must be active in the field of sleep medicine, are selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana State Medical Society. The remaining member must be a hospital administrator selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana State Hospital Association. 

Appointments to the Advisory Committee on Polysomnography:

Joseph Bordelon, MD, of Opelousas, is the President of the Acadiana Medicine Clinic. Dr. Bordelon will be reappointed to serve as a diplomat of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute.

Lauren Davis-Toups, MD, of Madisonville, is a physician at Pontchartrain Sleep Medicine and a member of the American Association of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Davis-Toups will be reappointed to serve as a diplomat of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute.

David McCarty, MD, of Shreveport, is the Program Director of LSU Health Shreveport Fellowship in Sleep Medicine. Dr. McCarty will be appointed to serve as a diplomat of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute.
