BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Dr. Sandra Woodley to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education.
The Board of Control for Southern Regional Education serves to organize government and education leaders in its member states to work toward advancing education and improving the social and economic life of the southeast region of the United States. Member states include Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
According to Louisiana statute, the board is comprised of the governor of each member state and four gubernatorial appointees, including one member from the field of education and one member of the state legislature.
Dr. Sandra Woodley, of Zachary, is the President of the University of Louisiana System. Dr. Woodley will be appointed to serve as a member from the field of education, as required by statute.
