BATON ROUGE – Governor Bobby Jindal issued a statement today after the Louisiana State Supreme Court vacated the judgment of the District Court on Act 1. The State Supreme Court found that the parties and the District Court did not have the benefit of the Court’s recent ruling on Act 2 regarding the single object provision, and has vacated the judgment in order for the District Court to reconsider the case.
Governor Jindal said, “We appreciate the decision by the Supreme Court, and are encouraged that the District Court will have an opportunity to reconsider the case. This law ensures that we can reward effective teachers, support ineffective teachers who want to improve, and put a great teacher in every classroom so that all of our children have the opportunity to succeed.”
