Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Appointments to the Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission?

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission.
The Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission serves to control, maintain and exhibit the destroyer U.S.S. Kidd.
 
According to statute, the commission is composed of 17 members, including the secretary of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism or their designee and the director of the Louisiana Department of Veteran Affairs. The remaining 15 members are gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Four appointments must be from East Baton Rouge Parish and eleven must be at-large members.
 
Appointments to the Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission:
 
Mike McNaughton, of Denham Springs, is the Veterans Outreach Director at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in the military until 2004. He was in charge of mine clearing in Afghanistan, and an explosion in 2004 caused McNaughton to lose his leg. McNaughton attends speaking engagements throughout the country and holds cycling clinics for amputees at military and VA hospitals. McNaughton will be appointed to serve as an at-large gubernatorial appointee, as required by statute.
 
Len Sedlin, of Baton Rouge, is a retired chemical engineer and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Sedlin served on the Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission from 1999-2011. Sedlin is currently the President of the Service Corps of Retired Executives association (SCORE). Sedlin will be appointed to serve as an at-large gubernatorial appointee, as required by statute.
 
Mary Fish, of Denham Springs, is retired. Fish served an Executive Assistant at the U.S.S. Kidd from 2007-2012. Fish is a veteran of the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) and served in Vietnam for two years in the 1960’s. Fish will be appointed to serve as an at-large gubernatorial appointee, as required by statute.
 
Rudy Bourg, of Youngsville, is a retired Case Manager for the Lafayette Catholic Service Center. Bourg is a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bourg serves on the Veterans Affairs Commission and was appointed in 2011. Bourg will be appointed to serve as an at-large gubernatorial appointee, as required by statute.
 
W. Bruce King, of Greenwell Springs, is a chemical engineer and a veteran of the Navy/Naval Reserve. King was inducted into LSU’s Military Hall of Honor, November 23, 2013. King will be reappointed to serve as an at-large gubernatorial appointee, as required by statute.
