In April 2005, the Drug Policy Board assigned the Prevention Systems Committee (PSC) the task
of implementing Louisiana's Strategic Plan for Substance Abuse Prevention known as, The
Governor’s Initiative to Build a Healthy Louisiana.   The PSC works in collaboration with the
State Epidemiology Workgroup (SEW) to advise and make recommendations to the Drug Policy
Board on issues relating to programs, policies, and practices that build a solid foundation for
delivering and sustaining an effective substance abuse prevention effort.   The PSC is
comprised of individuals from agencies and organizations who are knowledgeable about
prevention issues.
