Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards proclaimed May 8-12 as “Teacher Appreciation Week” in Louisiana. This week is dedicated to acknowledging the positive influence teachers have on our children and to thank them for their unyielding commitment, hard work and effort  in preparing our children to become our future leaders.

“Teachers have the ability to impact students and shape their lives in profound ways, and they should be recognized for the incredible work they do every day,” said Gov. Edwards. “We are fortunate to have so many talented teachers across the state working to unlock the potential of Louisiana students and empowering them with the knowledge and the skills necessary to become successful and engaged citizens.  Let’s all take time this week to show our appreciation for teachers who often wear many hats, including counselor, role model and mentor, to ensure a brighter tomorrow for all students.”
