Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation
The Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation is a private, nonprofit corporation which operates as a domestic mutual insurer to provide workers' compensation insurance, a residual market, and services related to workers' compensation insurance for the benefit of Louisiana employers.

Barbara F. Young, of Shreveport, was reappointed to the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation. Young is a self-employed consultant and will serve as an at-large member.

Parish Boards of Election Supervisors
The purpose of the board in each parish is to oversee and supervise all elections within the parish to ensure the safety and accuracy of the democratic process. The Board of Election Supervisors oversees the preparation and conducting of each election in the parish. Each parish’s board is composed of the parish’s registrar of voters, the parish’s clerk of court, the chairman of the parish executive committee of each recognized political party, and one member appointed by the governor.

Irvin “Choppy” Smith, of Mermentau, was reappointed to the Acadia Parish Board of Election Supervisors. Smith is retired.

Patrick N. Napier, of Jeanerette, was reappointed to the Iberia Parish Board of Election Supervisors. Napier is retired and is a veteran of the United States National Guard.
