Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions. 

Gov. Edwards announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:

North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District
The North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District, or simply the North Lafourche Levee District (NLLD), was formed by an Act of the Louisiana Legislature and is responsible for improving flood protection on the west side of Bayou Lafourche from the Intracoastal Waterway in Larose to the northern edge of the parish. In 2006, through a statewide re-organization of levee boards, the North Lafourche Levee District was given additional jurisdiction over the east side of Bayou Lafourche from the Intracoastal Waterway in Larose to the northern end of Lafourche Parish. The North Lafourche Levee District now has jurisdiction over Lafourche Parish north of the Intracoastal Canal.

Percy Gasery, Jr. of Vacherie was appointed to the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District. Mr. Gasery is a registered environmental manager with Gasery and Associates and has 26 years of experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous material, hazardous waste operations, preparedness/response, and environmental compliance requirements. Mr. Gasery will represent Senate District 2.

Louisiana State Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition
The Louisiana State Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition serves to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public by providing for the licensure and regulation of persons practicing the profession of dietetics and nutrition.

Martina M. Salles of Destrehan has been appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition. Ms. Salles is a registered dietician/nutritionist, licensed dietitian and a fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She also holds a Masters of Public Health. She will represent a person with a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in human nutrition, food, and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management selected from a list of names submitted by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry. 

Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (LSBEC)
Led by a board of directors appointed by the governor and by small business organizations and service providers, the LSBEC was established to identify issues pertinent to the operation of small businesses and advise Louisiana Economic Development (LED) and the governor on issues affecting the competitiveness of small businesses in Louisiana. The council will advise LED on strategies to cultivate small business competitiveness and strengthen entrepreneurship throughout the state.

John Prentis Everett of Baton Rouge was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business Entrepreneurship Council. Mr. Everett is the Baton Rouge area market president for Iberia Bank. He will represent the Louisiana Bankers Association.

Iam Christian Tucker of New Orleans was appointed to the Louisiana Small Business Entrepreneurship Council. Ms. Tucker is the president/CEO/owner of Integrated Logistical Support, Inc. She will sit in the at-large position on the Board.

Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District (LSED)
The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District is a state agency/political subdivision comprised of seven members appointed by the governor. The board's primary purpose is to plan, finance, construct, develop, maintain and operate facilities located within the District for events of public interest. The LSED is responsible for the John A. Alario, Sr. Event Center, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Smoothie King Center, New Orleans Saints Training Facility, TPC Louisiana, and the Shrine on Airline.

Wells T. Watson of Lake Charles has been appointed to the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District. Mr. Watson is a managing partner at the law firm of Baggett, McCall, Burgess, Watson and Gaughan in Lake Charles. He earned his law degree from Tulane Law School and is a former law clerk of United States District Judge Fred Heebe. Mr. Watson previously served on the Louisiana State Racing Commission after being appointed by then-Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. He is a father of three to Wells jr., Emeline and Jack. He is the son of former Supreme Court Justice Jack and Sue Watson. Mr. Watson spends his free time volunteering as a basketball coach and he is presently a non-faculty assistant coach at Lake Charles College Prep. 

Louisiana Commission on HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis C Education, Prevention and Treatment
The commission researches and reviews all the state regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures relative to the prevention of Hepatitis C, HIV infection, and AIDS and makes recommendations to the governor, the Department of Health and Hospitals and the legislature.
