As we continue to diversify our economy, we must ensure that Louisiana's workforce is the most job-ready in the nation. One of Gov. Edwards' top priorities in term two is workforce development and preparing our workforce for the economy of tomorrow. We can strengthen our workforce by building on programs already in place such as expanding dual enrollment and apprenticeship opportunities and partnering with business, industry leaders and organized labor.
In addition, the governor plans to prioritize the growth and expansion of women and minority-owned businesses with an eye to the future of our economy where the CEOs reflect the diversity of the state in which we live by increasing funding for our institutions of higher education, including our community and technical colleges and HBCUs. The goal is that 60 percent of all working-age adults in Louisiana will have a degree or a high-value credential by 2030.
