Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.  

Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board

The Children's Cabinet Advisory Board provides information and recommendations from the perspective of advocacy groups, service providers and parents on policies and programs relating to Louisiana children. Its strategic goals are to advise and assist the Children’s Cabinet; coordinate agency resources and provide linkages among agencies that serve children and families; and develop policy, program and budget recommendations to address child and family issues.

Rekesha Renee G. Antoine of Prairieville has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Antoine is the director of maternal infant health at the March of Dimes Louisiana Chapter.

Leann Bond of Monroe has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Bond is the executive director of the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana.

Brittany “Britt” Braun of New Orleans has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Braun is an education program consultant for the Louisiana Department of Education.

Juanita M. Carruth of New Orleans has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Carruth is the founder of Families Against Child Trafficking and will serve as a parent representative.

Jill C. Dyason of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Dyason is the executive director of the Louisiana Association of Children & Family Agencies (LACFA).

Gina E. Eubanks of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Eubanks is the associate vice president for the LSU AgCenter and the program leader of nutrition and food science.

Teresa A. Falgoust of Jefferson has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Falgoust is the Kids Count coordinator at Agenda for Children.

Annette L. Frugé of Opelousas has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Frugé will serve as a parent representative.

Julio R. Galan of Lake Charles has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Galan is the president and CEO of the Family and Youth Counseling Agency and will represent the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory Board.

Eric Griggs, M.D. of New Orleans has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Griggs is the community medicine director for Access Health Louisiana.

Ronald C. Johnson of Harvey has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Johnson is the senior vice president of the support division at Access Health Louisiana and will represent the Louisiana Primary Care Association.

Tara A. LeBlanc of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. LeBlanc is the director of the Bureau of Health Services Financing at the Louisiana Department of Health.

Jill E. Roshto of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Roshto is the interim executive director at the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations.

Marsha Shuler of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Shuler is the policy manager at the Division of Administration.

Ayn W. Stehr of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Stehr is the executive director of the Louisiana Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

Michael W. Victorian of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Victorian is a senior client executive at CMA Technology Solutions.

Kahree A. Wahid of Lecompte has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Wahid is the director of the Head Start Collaboration Project.

Melanie M. Washington of Denham Springs has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Washington is the director of the State Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Steps.

Gina B. Womack of New Orleans has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Womack is the executive director of Families and Friends of Louisiana’s Incarcerated Children.

Lenell Young of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Young is the director of the Louisiana Parent Education Network and will serve as a parent representative.

Capital Area Human Services District

The Capital Area Human Services District directs the operation and management of community-based programs and services relative to public health, mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services for the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana.

Gerri J. Hobdy of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Capital Area Human Services District. Hobdy is the director of external relations for the Baton Rouge Community College and will represent East Baton Rouge Parish.

Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District

The mission of the Capital Area Ground Water Conservation District is to provide for the efficient administration, conservation, orderly development, and supplementation of groundwater resources in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana. The board develops, promotes, and implements management strategies to provide for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharging, and prevention of waste of the groundwater resources over which it has jurisdictional authority.

Thomas P. Seagraves of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District. Seagraves is retired from BASF and will serve as a representative of industrial users in the district.

Cyril E. Vetter of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Capital Area Groundwater Conservation District. Vetter is retired and will serve as a representative of industrial users in the district.

Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistants Advisory Committee

The duties and purpose of the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee shall be to advise the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners on all matters specifically dealing with licensing or disciplining of physician assistants or the drafting and promulgating of regulations related to physician assistants. The advisory committee shall also review and make recommendations to the board on applications for licensure as physician assistants.

Raven R. Lewis of Gretna has been appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistants Advisory Committee. Lewis is a physician assistant in pediatric orthopedics at the Ochsner Medical Center and was nominated by the LA Academy of Physician Assistants.

State Board of Architectural Examiners

The State Board of Architectural Examiners is responsible for granting licenses and regulating the practice of Architecture in the State of Louisiana.

Shannon D. French of New Orleans has been appointed to the State Board of Architectural Examiners. French is the director of design at WDG Architects and will represent District One.

Caddo Levee District

The Caddo Levee District Board of Commissioner’s mission is to maintain and operate the levee systems along the right descending back of the Red River, as well as the levee systems of Twelve Mile Bayou and Black Bayou.

Jackie L. “Deuce” Baker of Belcher has been appointed to the Caddo Levee District. Baker is retired.

Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board

The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board was created to promote the growth and development of the soybean, wheat, corn, and grain sorghum industries in Louisiana. Assessments collected on these grains at the first point of sale by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry are remitted to the Board to conduct programs of research and promotion. The Board also participates in federal check off programs for soybeans and grain sorghum.

Joseph M. Boudreaux of Port Barre has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Boudreaux is a farmer and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Foundation.

Charles J. Cannatella of Melville has been reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Cannatella is the owner of Cannatella Outdoor Farms and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

Charles D. Glaser of Verntress has been reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Glaser is a soybean farmer and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

Heath M. Herring of St. Joseph has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Herring is the owner of H and K Farms Partnership and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

Kellon L. Lee of St. Joseph has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Lee is the owner of Lee Farms Partnership and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

Matthew G. “Garrett” Marsh of Tallulah has been reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Marsh is the owner of Blessed Day Farms and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

William J. Miller of Ferriday has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Miller is the owner of Will Miller Farms and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

Joey J. Olivier of Arnaudville has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Olivier is a farmer and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau.

Leonard B. “Burch” Pierce III of Jonesville has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Pierce is the manager at Farmland Allocation and Resource Management and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

Luke R. Sayes of Deville has been appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Sayes is the owner and operator of Luke and Kayla Sayes Farm and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau.

Darrell J. VandeVen of St. Joseph has been reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. VandeVen is a soybean farmer and was nominated by the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.

Scott M. Wiggers Jr. of Winnsboro has been reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Wiggers is a soybean producer and was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

BioDistrict New Orleans

BioDistrict New Orleans is a state-enabled economic development district (with taxing and bonding authority) that is charged with the responsibility of growing both the programmatic and physical development components of the biosciences sector of the New Orleans economy.

Judith W. Dangerfield of New Orleans has been appointed to the BioDistrict New Orleans Commission. Dangerfield is the owner of Metro-Source and will serve at-large.

Louisiana Forestry Commission

The purpose is to protect, conserve, and replenish the natural resources of the state; the practice of forestry in the state is placed under the Louisiana Forestry Commission, which is hereby established in the executive branch of the state government.

D. Gradon Clemons of Amite has been reappointed to the Louisiana Forestry Commission. Clemons is the owner of Clemco Land and Cattle, LLC. Clemons will serve as an owner/executive manager of interests owning and operating timberlands.

Peggy L. Hagan of Hammond has been appointed to the Louisiana Forestry Commission. Hagan is the owner of Timberland Management Services and will represent owners of farm lands interested in reforestation.

Michael K. Hudson of Bogalusa has been reappointed to the Louisiana Forestry Commission. Hudson is the fiber supply manager at International Paper and will represent pulp and paper mills.

Louisiana State Racing Commission

The Louisiana Racing Commission reviews, regulates, governs and supervises all forms of horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering in the State of Louisiana.

Benjamin J. Guilbeau Jr. of Lake Charles was appointed chairman of the Louisiana State Racing Commission. Guilbeau is a partner at the Stockwell Law Firm and currently serves as representative of Calcasieu Parish.

Louisiana Public Defender Board

Michael C. Ginart Jr. of Meraux has been reappointed to the Public Defender Board. Ginart is an attorney at Ginart and Associates and will represent the 4th Appellate Court District.
