Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.  

Louisiana Department of Health

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive and rehabilitative services for all citizens of the State of Louisiana.

Elizabeth C. Adkins of Prairieville has been appointed to the Louisiana Department of Health. Adkins is the deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Aging and Adult Services for the Louisiana Department of Health. She will serve as the interim assistant secretary representing the Office of Aging and Adult Services for the Louisiana Department of Health.

Louisiana State Child Death Review Panel

The Louisiana State Child Death Review Panel is a multidisciplinary panel of 25 members of Louisiana state and non-governmental agencies and organizations. The State Child Death Review Panel reviews all unexpected deaths among children age 14 years and younger, including SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) to better understand the cause and contributing risk factors. Review findings are also used to take action to prevent other deaths and to improve health and safety of Louisiana’s children.

Pamela Q. Cart of Iota has been reappointed to the Louisiana State Child Death Review Panel. Cart is a forensic relations specialist at the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency. She will serve at-large.

Dr. Laura C. Kleinpeter of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Louisiana State Child Death Review Panel. Dr. Kleinpeter is a pediatric emergency care physician at Our Lady of the Lake. She will serve as a pediatrician with expertise in diagnosing and treating child abuse and neglect nominated by the state chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Shana S. Toole of Hammond has been appointed to the Louisiana State Child Death Review Panel. Toole is a product safety investigator for the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. She will serve at-large.

Port of South Louisiana Commission

The Port of South Louisiana serves to stimulate commerce and industrial development throughout St. James, St. John the Baptist and St. Charles parishes, which make up the port jurisdiction.

Katie Klibert of LaPlace has been appointed to the Port of South Louisiana Commission. Klibert is a community relations and business development manager at REV Broadband. She will represent St. John the Baptist Parish.
