BATON ROUGE, La. — Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to the following Louisiana boards and commissions.
Children's Trust Fund Board
The Louisiana Children's Trust Fund Board provides funds for non-profit and public agencies throughout the state for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Amanda R. Colon of Geismar was appointed to the Children’s Trust Fund Board. Ms. Colon is manager of family support and coordinated enrollment for the Louisiana Department of Education. She will represent the Department of Education.
Dairy Stabilization Board
The Dairy Stabilization Board provides a regulatory program designed to stabilize the Louisiana dairy industry in order to assure an adequate supply of healthful and wholesome dairy products to Louisiana consumers at fair and reasonable prices.
Ford “Kennon” Davis of Mandeville was reappointed to the Dairy Stabilization Board. Mr. Davis is retired. He will represent processors.
Eric R. Lane of Baton Rouge was reappointed to the Dairy Stabilization Board. Mr. Lane is the owner of Gerry Lane Chevrolet. He will represent consumers.
Joy D. Womack of Zachary was reappointed to the Dairy Stabilization Board. Ms. Womack is a farmer and owner of Womack Dairy Farms. She will represent milk producers.
Louisiana State Board of Dentistry
The mission of the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry is to protect the public by regulating the professions of dentistry and dental hygiene in Louisiana in accordance with the Dental Practice Act.
Nelson P. Daly, D.D.S. of Baton Rouge was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. Dr. Daly owns Dr. Daly Dentistry. He will represent the 8th Dental Board District.
Louisana Developmental Disabilities Council
The Louisiana Developmental Disability Council’s mission is to lead and promote advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Libby N. Airhart of Breaux Bridge was appointed to the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council. Ms. Airhart is EMT/Dispatch Coordinator for Cityblock Health. She will serve as a representative of a local, non-governmental and/or non-profit agency.
Parish Boards of Election Supervisors
The purpose of the board in each parish is to oversee and supervise all elections within the parish to ensure the safety and accuracy of the democratic process. The Board of Election Supervisors oversees the preparation and conducting of each election in the parish. Each parish’s board is composed of the parish’s registrar of voters, the parish’s clerk of court, the chairman of the parish executive committee of each recognized political party, and one member appointed by the governor.
Blair C. Condoll of New Orleans was appointed to the Parish Boards of Election Supervisors. Condoll is a professor of political science with Dillard University. He will represent Orleans Parish.
Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board (LERN)
The Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board serves to defend the public health, safety and welfare by protecting the people of the State of Louisiana against unnecessary deaths and morbidity due to trauma and time-sensitive illness.
Schielanda “Schaun” Chevis of Baton Rouge was appointed to the LERN Board. Ms. Chevis is the emergency preparedness coordinator for the Office of Behavioral Health. She will represent the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health.
Brandon Mauldin of New Orleans was appointed to the Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board. Dr. Mauldin is the chief medical officer for Tulane Health System. He represents the Tulane University Health Sciences Center.
Louisiana Commission on Human Rights
The role of the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights is to enforce specific laws pertaining to discriminatory practices in the state of Louisiana. To accomplish this purpose, the Commission uses distinct procedures for intake, investigation, mediation, and determination to process official complaints of discrimination.
Alison D. Bordelon of New Orleans was appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights. Ms. Bordelon is a program director for the Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges System. She will represent the 2nd Congressional District.
Louisiana Medical Advisory Board
The Louisiana Medical Advisory Board shall advise the Department of Public Safety and Corrections on the visual and/or physical condition of an applicant for a vehicle operator's license or of a licensed driver, insofar as any impairment or disability therein may hinder such person's ability to exercise ordinary and reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle.
Fawad A. Khan, M.D. of New Orleans was appointed to the Louisiana Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Khan is the director of the International Center for Epilepsy at Ochsner Neuroscience Institute. He will serve as a neurologist.
Chistopher W. Wroten, O.D. of Amite, Louisiana was reappointed to the Louisiana Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Wroten is an optometrist with Bond-Wroten Eye Clinic. He will serve as an optometrist.
New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Board of Directors (NOCCA)
The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Board of Directors oversee the management of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Oversight includes the hiring of the President/CEO, oversight of the fiscal operations of the facility, and development of policies necessary to operate the center. NOCCA is a state agency whose mission is to provide arts training for high school age students who aspire to be professional artists.
Rhenea C. Carter of New Orleans was appointed to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Board of Directors (NOCCA). Ms. Carter is an Uber driver and former director of front office hospitality with the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. She will serve as an alumnus of NOCCA.
Mark Anthony Thomas of New Orleans was appointed to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Board of Directors (NOCCA). Mr. Thomas is an artist/teacher with NOCCA. He will represent the faculty of NOCCA.
Stephen G. Weber of Norco was appointed to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Board of Directors (NOCCA). Mr. Weber is a retired high school principal. He will serve at-large.
Louisiana Public Facilities Authority
The primary mission of the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority is to further education, healthcare, economic development, and job creation in Louisiana in order to make Louisiana a better place to work, live, and raise our families.
Monica S. Brown of Monroe was appointed to the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority. Ms. Brown is the budget and accounting administrator for the Monroe Fire Department. She will serve at-large.
Louisiana Rehabilitation Council
The Louisiana Rehabilitation Council listens to the concerns of those with disability issues, reviews, analyzes and evaluates the state rehabilitation program, collaborates with other state agencies, organizations and consumer groups.
Nicole S. Poiencot of Lafayette was appointed to the Louisiana Rehabilitation Council. Ms. Poiencot is a rehabilitation specialist/manager with Louisiana Workforce Commission Rehabilitation Services. She will serve as a non-voting rehabilitation counselor with knowledge of and experience with vocational rehabilitation programs.
Statewide Independent Living Council
The Louisiana Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) supports the efforts of our citizens with disabilities to live independently in the community of their choice. SILC works to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence and productivity of individuals with disabilities, facilitating integration and full inclusion into the mainstream of American society. SILC is composed of twenty-two members appointed by the governor. It is required that the majority of SILC members are individuals with disabilities and provide statewide representation.
Danielle M. Credeur of Youngsville was appointed to the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). Ms. Credeur is the HCBS administrator for Southwest Louisiana Independence Center. She will serve as a representative of a center for independent living.
Randy W. Dartez of Iowa was appointed to the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). Mr. Dartez is a registered nurse and interim executive director of Southwest Louisiana Independence Center, Inc. He will serve as a representative of a center for independent living.
Maria Lynette Fontenot of Lafayette was appointed to the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). Ms. Fontenot is the chair of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Disability Affairs. She will serve as an individual with a disability.
Teriyonda T. Murray of Bossier City was appointed to the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). Ms. Murray is an outreach care specialist with Elevance. She will represent private business.
Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East
The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East sets policy and manages flood protection operations in Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes on the east bank of the Mississippi River. Specifically, the Flood Protection Authority is responsible for flood protection systems; the new Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS); the Mississippi River and Tributaries (MR&T) Levee System; and the Interior Non-Federal Levee Systems.
K. Randall Noel of LaPlace was appointed to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–East. Mr. Noel is president of Reve Inc. He will serve as a non-resident engineer or a professional in a related field such as geotechnical, hydrological, or environmental science.
Derek N. Rabb of New Orleans was appointed to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–East. Mr. Rabb is a category leader with Entergy. He will represent Orleans Parish and serve as an engineer or a professional in a related field such as geotechnical, hydrological, or environmental science.
William A. Settoon Jr. of New Orleans was appointed to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–East. Mr. Settoon is vice president and general manager of GB Sciences of Louisiana Inc. He will represent Orleans Parish and serve as a professional in another discipline.
Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - West
The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West provides flood protection for the west side of the Mississippi River in Jefferson and Orleans parishes.
William B. Fogle of Abita Springs was appointed to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–West. Mr. Fogle is a retired senior consultant with VCI, LLC. He will serve as a professional in an unrelated field residing outside of Jefferson and Orleans Parish.
Kelsey Foster of New Orleans was reappointed to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–West. Ms. Foster is executive director of the Algiers Economic Development Foundation. She will serve as a professional in another discipline and resident of the west bank of Orleans Parish.
