description:

The Bureau of Family Health (BFH) is committed to ensuring the populations we serve have the opportunities to achieve their highest level of health, or in other words, to achieve health equity. BFH's Health Equity Action Team (HEAT) is excited to host a training for staff to further understand and develop actionable strategies to promote equity. The training will take place February 11th through 12th in Alexandria, Louisiana. This 2-day Health and Racial Equity Training, developed in partnership with the National Birth Equity Collaborative, aims to build skills needed to address the social determinants of health, understand and dismantle racism, and recognize and address bias. Specifically, after this training, participants will be able to:

- Utilize a common language for equity concepts,
- Articulate how race as a social construct impacts population health in the U.S.,
- List tools and steps for root cause and racial equity analysis, and
- Describe opportunities for equity in work practice.
