Governor Jeff Landry created the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans Task Force to help find legislative solutions for long standing problems related to drainage, governance, billing, and maintenance. Composed of public officials, industry leaders, and experienced subject matter experts, the Task Force convened in three public meetings in March of 2024. During these meetings, the Task Force heard from relevant stakeholders, listened to public comment, and discussed solutions for long-standing problems amongst themselves and with their Technical Advisory Group. Their work culminated in a report delivered to the Governor on March 27, 2024. The report contains a description of the issues facing the Sewerage and Water Board and a list of multiple recommended solutions for the Governor and legislators to consider.
