Pleasure: Members may be removed at the pleasure of the governor

Concurrent: Members sit for a term concurrent with the governor’s term; the member may be removed for cause

Specific Term: The specific number of years for a term is set by statute.  The member will serve that number of years and have a specific term end date.  The member may only be removed for cause. At the end of the term, the seat is considered expired but not vacant.

R. S. 24:14K  2. (B) The appointee may continue to serve until the end of the second regular session of the Legislature following the expiration of the term. This means that a term is not vacant until the end of 2 regular sessions following the term end date.
