Human Service Professionals who attend will hear from: Experts, Joseph Macbeth and John Raffaele with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals, will be sharing information on “The changing role of the Direct Support Professional”. This Interactive discussion will cover the changing role of the DPS, standardized set of competencies, The Code of Ethics, and Informal Decision Making.
Self-Advocates and family members who participate will hear from the Bridge to Independence Program about Higher education opportunities for people with disabilities, self-advocacy & self-determination from Jeff Arseneaux with People First of Louisiana and the Louisiana ABLE.
All participants are invited to join us for dinner for The Arc of Louisiana’s Annual awards banquet. The Conference will close the following day with a state of the state from Deputy Secretary, Michelle Alletto.
