Governor Jeff Landry Announces $100 Million Investment in Fortified Roof Program
Further Lowering Homeowners Premiums
Baton Rouge, LA– Today, Governor Jeff Landry joined Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple to announce a $100 million total investment in the Fortified Roof Program. This investment combines redirected funds from federal disaster recovery resources, remaining Hurricane Katrina and Rita bonds, and legislative appropriations.

$20 million dollars of HUD money toward the program for those homeowners, specifically on the coast.

Commissioner Temple has found $50 million of leftover Katrina bond money that he is reallocating.

The Legislature appropriated $30 million dollars this year.

"Louisiana’s insurance market is improving. More insurers are coming to the state, competitions increasing, and rates are stabilizing. Over the past three years we have enacted more than 50 insurance reforms—the most comprehensive package in state. With this $100 million investment, we will ensure stronger roofs and lower insurance prices. Our goal is to reduce the financial barriers for families seeking to fortify their homes and overall lower premiums,” said Governor Jeff Landry.
